資料及び文献がほぼ残っていないRover Chair以前に存在したと言われる激レアの英軍フィールドチェア。

フィールドチェアの名のとおり野営目的(つまりキャンプ目的)で作られたフォールディングチェアは、 スチールの骨格フレームをバラした上で(座面と背もたれに使われている)キャンバスでロールし、 バックパックに括リ付けるなどして持ち運びをしやすいように可変させるヴィンテージ・ユーティリティ感溢れる無骨で男気な仕様。

オリジナルは約80年前のものと推定されるシロモノを果敢にも見事なる完成度で復刻したのがこちら!!!

The new model from Ballistics, the company known for the reproductions of the British Army Rover Chair, is . . .

This is a very rare British Army Field Chair that is said to have existed before the Rover Chair, for which there are almost no documents or literature left.

As the name suggests, the folding chair was made for camping purposes. The steel frame was dismantled and rolled in canvas (used for the seat and backrest) and then strapped to a backpack for easy transport. A rugged and masculine version with a vintage utility feel.

The original is estimated to be about 80 years old, but we’ve boldly reissued it with stunning perfection!

Here are some comments (or thoughts) we got from Ballistics, the company that made this model.

・”It seems to be a big point that the skeletal frame is not a plate flat bar twist, but a pipe shape to secure rigidity”.
・I think it was made in the 1930s, when industrial technology in many countries was said to have made revolutionary progress in the run-up to the war.
・I’m sorry if I’m off by 10 to 20 years.
・I’ve seen a few images of people sitting on the chair who look like they have a high rank, officer or position.
・It may only be a folding chair, but this chair is full of interesting gimmicks such as the bending of the small movable part brackets, the insertion of different metal materials, and the exquisite curvature of the intersecting flat bar. That’s my honest impression.
・In the run-up to a major war, civilians are universally sent out to manufacture goods to fight and protect themselves, and many of the biggest technological innovations (the internet in recent years, perhaps?) come from the military. It’s also true that many of the greatest technological breakthroughs (like the internet in recent years) have come from the military.

This is a faithful reproduction of a product that has been shrouded in mystery for much of its life, with a “tremendous technological innovation (assumed to be about 80 years old)”.
